DSC Squash League beginning Monday 27 January 2025

Dear Squash Member

In the internal squash league that has just finished the top man was Andrew Larkin with 21 points, ahead of Greg Collingham with 14 points and Charlie Duckworth with 11 points.
The top woman was Miriam Emanuel with 10 points in Box 17.
Congratulations!

If you are a participant please note that a new squash league is now on the online booking website.

There were a record 20 people coming in this time - yes, 20! - and few dropping out, so it was a real headache trying to do it. Bear with me if you are lower than expected, but you should at least be above anyone who had fewer points than you

There are 198 participants spread over 33 full boxes. This league, the 295th I have produced since 1986, lasts 7 weeks until Sunday 16 March 2025.

As a help to organising your games thanks go to Steven Pavett who has set a WhatsApp thingy.
The following link should allow you to find a WhatsApp Group for whichever box you are in
https://dsc.mycourts.co.uk/index.asp?sid=&id=4140#content_anchor
Please leave and join groups as needed at the start of each league.
Any problems Steven is your man, steven.pavett@gmail.com.

As you should know by now the league is only online. I will eventually put a summary up at the club but all results must be added to the online league. The points system for results is detailed there.

All contact details can be found on the online booking site. Click on a name and then the email address and a blank email is opened for you to arrange games. Remember to put in your opponent's name when you book a court and they will get a reminder on the day, both to turn up and to pay you towards the court fee.

Please note that all participants in the Squash League are required to make both their email and mobile phone number available to other members on the online booking site. Please don't opt out of emails!

Players in the top half of the league should play best of 5 with PAR (point a rally) to 11, two clear points at deuce, rather than best of 5 with HiHo (hand in hand out) to 9. Do this by mutual agreement, with the default being HiHo. This is to help team players practise the system used in matches.

I suggest that matches throughout the league could use PAR, again by mutual agreement, if games are thought hard to finish in 45 minutes, with the default being HiHo to 9 as now.

Good luck to you all!

Nearly 10pm again so I reckon a top up of the Quimay Malbec is required...

Regards, Graham
